Every good night out in Budva needs a first chapter, and Greco is where a lot of them get written. The cocktail bar sits in the lanes of the Old Town, stone walls and warm light, close enough to everything that it works as a meeting point even when half the group is lost.

The drinks are the draw: a long list of classics done properly plus house signatures, a real step up from the seafront’s laminated-menu mojitos. Early in the evening the music stays low and the mood is conversational; as the night builds, so does the volume, until at some point the room collectively decides it is time to move on to the clubs.

That arc is the way to use Greco. It is not a dance venue and does not pretend to be; it is the warm-up act that makes the rest of the night better, and on quieter evenings it is simply a very good bar to stay in until close.

In peak season it fills up fast, so come early if you want a table rather than a perch. From here, Trocadero is a short walk and Top Hill a taxi ride, which is the classic Budva progression in ascending order of volume.
