Things to Do
Duration
Varies by route, from short coastal loops to full-day cruises
Season
Mainly May-October

The Budva riviera arranges itself for an audience at sea. From the water you get the version of the coast the postcards use: the walled Old Town on its peninsula, Mogren’s coves under the cliffs, and further down the coast the fortified islet of Sveti Stefan, which you cannot enter on land but can admire properly from a boat deck.

Tours leave from the Old Town harbour, and the range is wide: small wooden boats running short coastal loops, larger vessels and catamarans doing half-day and full-day cruises. Most itineraries thread the same highlights, the riviera coastline, Sveti Stefan from the water, sea caves along the cliffs, and nearly all include a swimming stop in some cove you would struggle to reach any other way.

Booking is refreshingly analogue. Walk the harbour promenade and the day’s offerings are chalked on boards beside the boats; you can compare routes, ask questions and haggle a little, especially outside peak weeks. Online platforms list the bigger operators too, useful if you want to lock in a specific day.

Prices and departure times shift with the season and the operator, so treat the promenade stroll as step one of the trip. Mornings tend to be calmer at sea; afternoons give better light on Sveti Stefan. Bring swimwear, sun cover and something for spray, and if a lazy day is the goal, this is the easiest good day out Budva sells.
